House Manager & Family Assistant

Sage HausArlington, VT

About The Position

We are a busy family of three in need of a highly reliable and self-sufficient House Manager & Family Assistant. We are currently relocating from New York to Vermont and excited to enter a new season of life. This is a home with two young children, a beloved dog, and a parent who is deeply involved and intentional about how the household runs. We value calm efficiency, clear communication, and a peaceful home environment. Life is full right now — coordinating a move, unpacking storage, setting up systems, and creating stability during transition. We are looking for someone who can step in, truly help anchor that process, and be there to support and grow with us in Vermont. Our parenting style is respectful and child-centered. Mindful language and awareness around children are important to us. We prioritize healthy living, organized systems, and a positive atmosphere. This should be a long-term, professional working relationship with clear expectations and mutual respect. You are proactive, organized, efficient, and emotionally intelligent — someone who can work independently while providing meaningful support with household logistics, family coordination, and occasional childcare. You are confident operating without constant direction and naturally take ownership of what needs to be done. You are highly self-directed and solutions-oriented. You anticipate, assess, and act quickly. You are calm but efficient, organized without being rigid, and detail-oriented without becoming overwhelmed. You communicate clearly and directly, ask thoughtful clarifying questions when appropriate, and understand how to move forward without requiring constant guidance. Strong organizational skills are a must. You excel at creating and maintaining structure, ensuring that tasks are completed efficiently and on time, and family flow is seamless. Punctuality is key— you keep things running on schedule, whether it’s managing household responsibilities or coordinating with the family. You respect the rhythms of the home and contribute to a stable, well-managed environment. You are comfortable reading the room and respecting boundaries. You understand when to step in and when to create space. You thrive in environments where professionalism and discretion matter. With children, you are grounded, respectful, and aligned with a gentle, child-centered approach. Our home values calm, joyful, and steady energy. You integrate seamlessly into daily routines, managing the home efficiently and proactively while maintaining a peaceful and sunny atmosphere. You are flexible with travel, adaptable during seasons of transition, and able to step in confidently when support is needed most. Your presence reduces stress, not adds to it — and your default mindset is steady, capable, and “can-do.”
