About The Position

The Housekeeping Inspector oversees the work of the housekeepers (piece workers).  They are to ensure that all housekeeping work that has been performed, is up to standard, and that staff members understand the importance of meeting, or better, exceeding the expectations of our guests.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of experience in resort housekeeping with a minimum of 1 year at a supervisory level
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills and attention to detail
  • Good business sense
  • Initiative, creativity, drive, and enthusiasm
  • Ability to handle multiple requests and operational demands with a high degree of professionalism, operating often with time sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule upon occasion, to include nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Good computer and writing skills
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Valid driver’s license that has been in effect for at least three years, with no major violations and no more than two minor violations in the past three years.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to communicate in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work with Housekeeping Manager to create schedules for all pieceworkers and provide them with pertinent occupancy information.
  • Develop and implement cleaning checklists, ensuring that pieceworkers follow and complete them promptly.
  • Provide training to pieceworkers, to make them aware of all standards.
  • Give mentorship and assistance to staff members, to ensure they deliver high-quality services.
  • Oversee the work of all pieceworkers and provide support where required.
  • Inspect each room, bathroom, hallway, kitchen, and patio, to ensure that high standards of housekeeping are adhered to.
  • Determine issues with housekeeping efforts and provide staff members with feedback regarding quality management.
  • Identify any security concerns, and report any damages, theft, or found articles to the property authority.
  • Ensure work orders are submitted for any maintenance issues found in the units.
  • Monitor the performance of all pieceworkers, advising the Housekeeping Manager and/or Director regularly of any deficiencies or exemplary accomplishments.
  • Other duties as assigned.
