About The Position

Under general supervision, this position will provide administrative support to the Senior HR Manager.  Accountabilities will include organizing and maintaining internal procedures, gathering, and maintaining monthly reports, processing payroll and collaborating with business unit leaders and support staff.  Provide support for the Human Resources Department and provide professional handling of confidential material and information.  Must be able to communicate with appropriate parties, coordinate with internal and external customers, and be able to handle a variety of problems and issues that require investigation, prudent decision making and discretion.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum of two years of college in a business-related course is preferred.
  • 5+ years of office work experience required preferably in an HR function; previous Payroll experience required.
  • High level of skill/experience with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Fluent in English, oral and written, required.
  • Working knowledge of employment law, payroll, benefits, and other HR related topics/regulations is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish personal credibility with internal/external customers.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and achievement orientation.
  • Ability to compose letters, forms, and reports, good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills to calculate figures and amounts such as interest, proportions, percentages, etc.
  • Effective communication skills and must maintain professional handling of confidential matters on a daily basis.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to meet business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a union environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to the Senior HR Manager.
  • Processing of the Refinery Payroll for Union and Non union personnel
  • Provide backup for nitrogen payroll.
  • Create reports, forms, or other documents for Human Resource and plant management.
  • Assist with job applicant travel arrangements.
  • Assist with the recruiting and on-boarding process, scheduling interviews, pre-employment screening, new hire paperwork, etc.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate and successful peer relationships in a fast-paced environment.
  • Read and interpret documents such as procedures, safety rules; prepare routine reports and correspondence.
  • Assist with planning activities associated with group meetings, plant wide events or special events such as holiday gatherings.
  • Backup for Drug Testing Program.
  • Tuition Reimbursement Coordinator
  • Regularly communicate with supervisor work progress, questions, or concerns.
  • Exposure to work near potentially volatile and combustible materials and chemicals.
