About The Position

Human Resources Intern (4692-27) Location: Cincinnati, Ohio Your Benefits of Working for Hamilton County ! Flexible and Potential Hybrid Work from Home Option. Starting Pay: $15.00/hour Ohio Public Employee Retirement System which includes 14% Employer Contribution and a defined benefit option. We serve the residents of Hamilton County in more ways than you may realize! As an HR Intern at Hamilton County, you will contribute to the work of the Human Resources Department, which supports the employees who serve the Hamilton County community every day. This position provides practical, hands-on experience across several HR functions and the opportunity to assist with projects that improve operations, enhance employee resources, and support the County’s workforce. The internship offers an introduction to public service and the role effective human resources practices play in a public-sector environment.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Public Administration, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with a variety of HR projects that may support all areas of HR department, such as recruitment, onboarding, employee engagement, employee development, HR systems, labor and employee relations, risk management, policy management, benefits and wellbeing and other department initiatives.
  • Helps update employee-facing resources, compile information, and prepare draft materials or summaries.
  • Conducts basic research and supports project tracking and implementation activities. This work provides developmental experience and broad exposure to how HR programs and services support employees, supervisors, and departments across the organization.
  • Assists with organizing and maintaining HR data, records, and documents to support daily operations. Helps review information for accuracy, organize electronic files, and maintain tracking tools and spreadsheets.
  • Provides general administrative and project support to the HR team by preparing materials, organizing information, and supporting assigned tasks while maintaining confidentiality. Through these activities, gains exposure to core HR operations, data management, and public-sector HR practices.
