About The Position

This position is responsible for: Plans, administers, coordinates, and monitors the Human Resource functions for employees of the Martin County, FL Corps. Serves as a liaison between the Corps and Divisional Headquarters regarding personnel functions and policy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Human Resource Administration, Business Administration or a related field, AND
  • Three years progressively responsible experience working in a human resource office, OR
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Valid State Driver’s License May Be Required
  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to perform mathematical computations.
  • Ability to operate and answer a telephone.
  • Ability to work well under the pressure of deadlines.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently with limited supervision.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently work on multiple projects at the same time without becoming frustrated or disorganized.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares and maintains personnel records for all employees.
  • Enforces the Worker's Together employee manual.
  • Coordinates recruitment and onboarding activities for the command.
  • Processes background checks and related appeals for the location.
  • Processes I-9 forms and E-Verify.
  • Assigns required employee training.
  • Assists employees with benefits including new hire and open enrollment, paid time off and leaves of absence.
  • Helps coordinate annual and 90-day performance review process.
  • Answers employee questions about the same.
  • Participates, with appropriate management, in the disciplinary and termination processes necessary; advises management as needed; communicates appropriately with Divisional Headquarters to ensure proper procedures are taken and followed.
  • Ensures compliance with personnel rules and regulations and maintains the confidential nature of the position.
