AbleLight’s Incident Manager (Adult Protection Services) is responsible for ensuring timely and effective incident management, investigations of allegations of abuse, neglect and exploitation of vulnerable adults ensuring their immediate and long-term safety for all of AbleLight. The role involves field investigations, interviewing, evidence collection, crisis intervention, and coordination and serving as a key liaison between compliance, Operations, HR, and Quality teams and external agencies, facilitating a coordinated approach to Abuse, Neglect, and Exploitation (ANE) incident resolution and trend analysis.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Criminal Justice, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in social services, investigations, and/or case management.

Responsibilities

  • Intake, Triage & Case Assessment
  • Receive and review reports of suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation of adults.
  • Determine case priority and response time based on risk level and state regulations.
  • Conduct initial safety assessments to identify immediate dangers.
  • Notifications and Escalations: Ensure all required notifications are completed and escalate issues as necessary to leadership and external authorities.
  • Field Investigation
  • Interview alleged victims, caregivers, witnesses, and alleged perpetrators.
  • Gather and document evidence, including photographs, statements, and records.
  • Evaluate physical, emotional, environmental, and financial risk factors.
  • Conduct home visits and on‑‑site investigations as needed.
  • Case Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain detailed, accurate case notes and investigative reports.
  • Document findings in accordance with AbleLight policies and state regulations.
  • Prepare reports that meet all regulatory requirements and may be used in legal proceedings.
  • Collaboration & Coordination
  • Work closely with all internal and external stakeholders making referrals as required.
  • Crisis Intervention & Safety Planning
  • Develop and implement safety plans for vulnerable adults.
  • Provide emergency interventions when necessary.
  • Work with operations to ensure appropriate temporary shelter, medical care, or protective orders when required.
  • Ongoing Case Management
  • Monitor client safety and service effectiveness.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Close cases once safety and service goals are met.
  • Follow-Up and Trend Identification: Ensure thorough follow-up on incidents, track trends, and identify systemic issues to mitigate future risks.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports to leadership on incident trends, resolution effectiveness, and compliance with state laws.
  • Training & Education: Assist in the development and implementation of abuse prevention and mandatory reporting training.
