About The Position

The Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) Program develops multi year optimized investment plans for the Electric organization by integrating system needs, solution options, cost, execution considerations, and enterprise risk. IGP partners closely with Asset Strategy, Engineering, Finance, Operations, and Regulatory teams to ensure that investment portfolios deliver the greatest value to customers within real world constraints. The Principal, IGP Portfolio Owner is a senior individual contributor role with enterprise level accountability for shaping, governing, and optimizing one or more Integrated Grid Planning (IGP) investment portfolios. This role owns portfolio outcomes, not just analysis or process, and is responsible for ensuring that multiyear investment decisions are value-driven, risk-informed, affordable, and executable. Operating with significant autonomy, the Principal Portfolio Owner serves as a trusted advisor to senior leadership, translating complex system needs, risk tradeoffs, and strategic objectives into clear, decision ready portfolio recommendations that guide PG&E’s long-term electric investments. This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory. Position will report to Oakland or Pleasanton twice a week or as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent experience
  • Experience with grid modeling software (e.g. CYMDIST, PSLF, Aspen, etc.)
  • Experience in electric utility, 10 years

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree in Business Administration or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Experience in electric investment portfolio management, capital planning, or large-scale infrastructure planning, 10 years
  • Familiarity with portfolio or investment planning platforms (e.g., Copperleaf or similar tools)
  • Experience working across strategy, engineering, finance, and operations in a matrixed environment
  • Proven ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with enterprise impact
  • Experience with data processing tools such as Excel, Access, SQL, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the single accountable owner for assigned IGP portfolio(s), with responsibility for scope, value proposition, risk posture, and strategic alignment
  • Define and maintain portfolio investment logic, trade offs, and decision rationale across planning horizons
  • Ensure portfolios directly support enterprise outcomes, regulatory expectations, and affordability objectives
  • Lead development of multi-year, outcome-driven, constraint-based investment portfolios
  • Guide prioritization decisions by integrating system needs, risk severity, cost, timing, and execution feasibility
  • Partner with IGP Solutions, Engineering, and Strategy teams to shape value models and optimization approaches
  • Provide decision quality insights to senior leaders, including portfolio sensitivities, risks, and tradeoffs
  • Support portfolio governance processes and ensure transparency, traceability, and defensibility of decisions
  • Translate complex technical and financial concepts into clear executive level narratives
  • Contribute to the evolution of IGP portfolio frameworks, prioritization methods, and planning maturity
  • Identify systemic gaps in tools, data, or processes and partner with IGP teams to address them
  • Serve as a mentor and subject matter expert for portfolio thinking across IGP
