About The Position

Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Information System Security Engineer to be part of our Security team and based out of our Arlington, VA location. Experience in managing, maintaining, and securing Arlington critical virtual infrastructure, physical and Linux/Windows environment. The ideal candidate has a deep technical background in virtualization/physical best practices, excellent troubleshooting skills, and a proven ability to maintain highly available, secure, and performant systems

Requirements

  • All applicants must currently possess an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related filed, or equivalent full-time professional experience.
  • 5+ years of full-time professional experience
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V).
  • Familiarity with network management, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and firewalls.
  • Proficiency with backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Solid experience with PowerShell or Bash scripting for automation.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time as needed

Responsibilities

  • VMware Infrastructure Management: Design, install, configure, and maintain VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter Server.
  • System Maintenance: Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability, security, and performance; implement and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations, processes, and infrastructure maps.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other IT staff and business units to understand needs and implement solutions that meet organizational objectives.
  • Linux System Administration: Install, configure, secure, and maintain Linux operating systems (Red Hat) in both virtual and physical environments.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and maintain automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerCLI, Ansible Playbook) to streamline routine administrative tasks, deployments, and reporting.
  • Troubleshooting: Provide Tier 3/4 support to quickly diagnose and resolve complex system and virtual/physical system performance issues, system configuration problems, and outages.
