About The Position

As a Molding Technician, you set up, operate, and maintain molding equipment while ensuring molds are clean, properly installed, and fully functional. You troubleshoot basic mold issues, confirm that all utility hookups are correct, and keep your work area organized. You also assist with repairs, test molds, and record all maintenance performed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent and a valid driver’s license required
  • Previous experience working in a technically challenging environment required, including identification, selection, and utilization of the correct tool for a given task (hand, power, standard shop tools)
  • Previous experience in injection molding strongly preferred, with the ability to accurately identify mold components, understand relevant terminology, and apply conceptual knowledge to practical processes
  • Must provide own basic hand tools
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills, with the ability to remain logical in ambiguous, fast-paced, and high-pressure situations
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal, interpersonal), with the ability to understand and follow instructions in English
  • Demonstrated accuracy using basic instruments to record precision measurements (micrometers, calipers, and gauges)
  • Demonstrated proficiency applying basic mathematical concepts (adding, subtracting, dividing, and multiplying) to calculations involving whole numbers, fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to demonstrate and maintain a high level of, dependability, adaptability, integrity, and intrinsic motivation
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and collaborate effectively with others as part of a team
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and squat throughout an 8-hour shift
  • Must have good manual dexterity
  • 20/20 vision (with correction) and the ability to differentiate color
  • Capable of working around grease, oils, and solvents without adverse reaction

Responsibilities

  • Operate molding presses and open/close molds for production needs and repairs.
  • Set, pull, clean, and inspect molds to ensure proper installation, completeness, and readiness for production.
  • Troubleshoot basic mold‑related issues and verify correct nozzle length, carriage settings, clamp stops, and safety features.
  • Confirm that all electrical, water, and air hookups are functioning properly and free of leaks; test molds for electrical, water, and air performance before release.
  • Clean, check, wire, and maintain mold heaters and mold components as needed.
  • Maintain accurate mold maintenance records, documenting dates, work completed, and responsible personnel.
  • Keep molding machine areas and shop workspaces clean, organized, and safe.
  • Assist Tool Room staff with mold and equipment repairs and report damaged molds or supply needs to Tooling leadership.
  • Green‑tag molds that meet production-ready standards and complete inspections as required.
  • Follow all safety procedures and shut down equipment immediately when hazards to personnel or property are present.
