About The Position

The Institutional Giving Officer leads all Institutional Giving for Rising Ground’s Institutional Advancement team. They will primarily be responsible for proposal submission and reporting, prospecting and pipeline generation, stewardship and cultivation, financial reporting and acknowledgements, and corporate sponsorship. They should have a strong familiarity with fundraising best practices and the institutional funding landscape. This position reports to the Vice President of Development and is expected to be in the office a minimum of three days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree, plus a minimum of 6-8 years’ experience in fundraising, preferably in institutional giving.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing persuasive, clear, concise, and visually attractive proposals/reports.
  • Strong project management skills, preferably working in large or highly matrixed non-profit organizations.
  • Excellent relationship-management skills, both internally and externally.
  • Experience successfully soliciting new funding from local, regional, and national foundations.
  • Strong knowledge of procedures for grant proposal submissions, funder selection criteria, and post-award funder expectations.
  • Able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines and funding goals, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities while maintaining a calm, professional work style.
  • Superior organizational skills, including the ability to coordinate overlapping projects and deadlines.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills; the ability to work well within small and large teams.
  • Strong attention to detail; strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently; someone with a strong sense of ownership over their work.
  • Proactive problem-solver.
  • Experience in CRM fundraising management software required; Salesforce preferred.
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.
  • Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites (if required)

Responsibilities

  • Write high-quality, compelling proposals.
  • Project manage all aspects of proposal preparation and submission with internal teams, including budget.
  • Coordinate with Program and Finance staff to create all interim and final reports.
  • Lead the execution of logic model development.
  • Maintain a pipeline of potential institutional funders that align with organizational funding needs.
  • Lead meetings with Program teams, presenting all relevant funding opportunities and immediate/upcoming action items.
  • Research and prepare profiles for all potential institutional funders.
  • Maintain relationships with institutional and corporate funders.
  • Oversee all communication with all institutional and corporate funders, including but not limited to invitations to events, and digital and physical communications.
  • Collaborate with the Program team to ensure that funders are informed about ongoing work through regular communications and site visits.
  • Manage a portfolio of funders in department database, including all payments, acknowledgement letters, and upcoming deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Development and Finance teams on the preparation of financial reports.
  • Collaborate with the Community Engagement and Program teams to develop opportunities for corporate sponsorship.
  • Generate proposals for corporate sponsorship opportunities.
  • Work with the Development Associate to create and execute volunteer engagements for corporate funders.
