The Instructional Design Specialist 1 supports accessible course development across the College of Public Health. Working under the guidance of the Instructional Design Coordinator, this role focuses on digital accessibility remediation, course build support, and quality assurance for online and hybrid courses. The position helps prepare courses on schedule and ensures content aligns with college standards, accessibility expectations, and instructional design best practices. The Instructional Design Specialist 1 bridges the gap between student assistants and more senior instructional design/accessibility roles. The position assumes ownership of defined work packages (e.g., formatting documents, performing accessibility checks, updating Canvas modules), while escalating complex issues to senior staff. The role supports instructor readiness, improves consistency and accessibility of course materials, and contributes to compliance with ADA Title II and WCAG 2.1 A/AA expectations. Success will be measured by on‑time course launches, reduced rework, and consistent application of accessibility and quality standards.
