Job Title: Instructor, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor of Education Director, Ed.S. in Instructional Leadership & M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership, Admin. and Supervision programs. Department: Department of Education Reports To: Chair of the Department of Education Prepared By: Dean of the College of Education & Behavioral Sciences Approved By: Vice President for Academics Summary: The director provides academic, administrative, and strategic leadership and management for of the Ed.S. and the M.Ed. in Instructional Leadership programs Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Administrative skill and leadership The director works with department chair and other program faculty to develop, articulate, and present a vision for the program that aligns with the University’s strategic plan; translates that vision into strategic goals for the program; and works collegially with the department chair and graduate faculty to ensure collaboration and successful implementation of the strategic goals. The director follows and consistently implements University policies. The director manages and supervises the office and staff necessary to achieve the vision, strategic plan, and annual goals of graduate programs within the college or department. The director is responsible for all fiscal matters for the unit; plans for, advocates for, requests, and disburses operational, travel, and other funds legally, responsibly and consistently within given budget limitations necessary to achieve the vision, strategic plan, and annual goals of the program. The director actively participates in assigned committees and in other required meetings. The director meets established deadlines. Enrollment management The director participates in recruiting activities as scheduled by the Office of Graduate Admissions. Program development and quality improvement The director provides curricular leadership in relation to University goals by recommending to initiate, sustain, deliver, or eliminate programming while considering student needs, workforce trends, and available resources. The director ensures the curriculum for the degree is appropriate, current, and pedagogically sound. The director develops outcomes, objectives, and assessment strategies for the program. The director completes annual program assessment for the program(s). The director completes academic program reviews, as required. Where appropriate, the director ensures successful accreditation or reaccreditation of the program. The director provides coordination in the construction of a timely class schedule for the program. Research, service and support The director actively engages in scholarship as defined by the University’s policies and faculty performance evaluations. Scholarship will be relevant to the director’s academic discipline and/or administrative area of responsibility. The director actively engages in service as defined by the University’s policies and faculty performance evaluations. The director supervises graduate assistants in a manner that advances the strategic direction of the unit and the university. Instruction The director teaches courses within the program as assigned by the department chair with a total load of up to twenty-seven hours, including reassigned time to serve as program director. The director serves as academic advisor for program majors. This job description shall include, but is not necessarily limited to, the above duties. The graduate director may temporarily perform other duties assigned to maintain operations and services. Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (Ed.D., Ph.D.) in instructional leadership, education leadership, administration and supervision or a related discipline
  • At least three years of leadership experience in public and/or private school settings
  • Appropriate state licensure in School Administration and Supervision
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents and community members
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to calculate descriptive and predictive statistics
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Computer proficiency in the following areas: spreadsheet software, word processing software, presentation software, statistical software and other software that may increase productivity and efficiency
  • Willingness to learn and use new software related to functional responsibilities
  • Teacher and administrator licensures in the state of residence, required
