About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University’s Department of Visual Art + Design invites applications for an Instructor of Studio Practice and Foundations position to begin on August 11, 2026. Motivated applicants with a practice in an area of studio art and with expertise in teaching courses in those areas are encouraged to apply. Primary responsibilities consist of teaching undergraduate art studio courses in areas such as; foundations, studio art, or other classes as assigned. The duties include, but are not limited to, curriculum development, research in creative activity, academic advisement of students, and performing university service as requested. Requirements

• Master of Fine Arts in Studio Art or a Master of Fine Arts in a relevant area of research is required by the hire date.
• Candidates must have at least 18 graduate credit hours in studio art.

• Teaching Philosophy Statement
• Copies of Transcripts (official transcripts will be required if hired)
• 10 – 20 images of current research or creative activity
• 10 – 20 images of student work

Nice To Haves

• The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about teaching foundations-level digital courses involving video, sound, and animation.
• Ability to teach undergraduate art courses in the areas of art foundations and other art classes as assigned.
• Ability to relate to students and colleagues in a university environment.
• Ability to conduct research in a creative activity or studio practice.
