About The Position

The Instructor delivers structured life-skills, work-readiness, literacy, and financial empowerment workshops to WeCARE participants while maintaining a professional, supportive learning environment. The Instructor collaborates closely with all VRS staff to support participant skill development, job-readiness, and progression toward employment or training pathways.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in education, social services or related field from an accredited institution required and 3-5 years of experience in training, education or career development in the workforce development field career counseling or a combination of relevant course work or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to be patient and sensitive to individuals with disabilities
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Experience in a fast-paced, team environment that is performance driven
  • Exceptional customer service and engagement skills; prefer training or experience in motivational interviewing and care management techniques
  • Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Experience with publicly-funded programs; TANF experience preferable
  • Experience in assessing the need for and making reasonable accommodations for customers
  • Knowledge of laws and regulatory requirements related to program responsibilities
  • Ability to use various electronic systems to carry out duties and responsibilities
  • Bilingual or multilingual preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction and workshops in an organized, professional, and engaging manner.
  • Document client interactions case notes and provide updates as needed.
  • Facilitate customized and contextualized literacy workshops that support job readiness and successful job search strategies.
  • Discuss sector-specific requirements, industry standards, and employer expectations with clients.
  • Plan, organize, and deliver training activities in compliance with HRA and program requirements.
  • Assist clients in identifying employers, skill-building opportunities, and programs aligned with their career goals.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and suggest revisions to content as needed to meet quality and performance standards.
  • Educate participants on their cash assistance benefits, budgeting, and transitioning from public assistance to self-sufficiency.
  • Apply motivational techniques to increase probability of individual success as well as meeting program outcomes.
  • Consult with vocational rehabilitation and employment services staff regarding curriculum and training needs.
  • Work with job development staff in identifying job-ready individuals for employment opportunities.
  • Assist with timekeeping by ensuring that all on-site and virtual attendance and engagement is accurately recorded.
  • Liaise with outreach and timekeeping staff to ensure that all missed appointments are properly accounted for in a timely manner and that all excused absences are accurately recorded.
