About The Position

AECOM is seeking an Integrated Experiences Intern to be based in Hunt Valley, MD. As an Integrated Experiences (IX) Intern, you will support AECOM’s multidisciplinary team of designers, technologists, and consultants who deliver technology, design, and advisory services across the built environment. IX works across smart buildings, audiovisual systems, IoT ecosystems, digital experience platforms, and Building Operating Systems (BOS). You’ll collaborate with engineers, architects, designers, and project managers while gaining hands‑on experience with AV, IoT, BOS, broadcast environments, and experiential spaces. IX contributes to projects ranging from corporate headquarters and broadcast studios to themed entertainment venues, museums, and performing arts centers. What many consider ‘AV’ is now core digital infrastructure found in every modern project. Our team integrates AV, IoT, BOS, lighting controls, and emerging technologies into connected, intuitive, future‑ready environments—working closely with other TSG specialties including Security, ICT, and Networks. Requirements

  • Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, AV Tech, Architecture or related field and must have completed at least 1 year of study. Candidates who have recently graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and plan to continue with the Master’s degree are eligible to apply for these positions. Recent graduates must have been enrolled in their bachelor’s degree in the most previous school term with an interest in pursuing an advanced degree in the same or similar discipline at the conclusion of the internship.
  • Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in AV, smart buildings, IoT, broadcast, or digital experience design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clear communication and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Prior experience helpful but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on emerging A/V, smart building, IoT, and experiential technologies.
  • Collaborate on programming, needs assessments, and strategic planning.
  • Assist with system commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Support creation of system drawings, specifications, and standards.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and assist with project management tasks.
