About The Position

Professional services work in providing intensive case management for Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center's Inpatient Clinic. Responsibilities include: Working with a multidisciplinary team to provide high risk mental health clients including those determined Not Criminally Responsible, case management services to ensure basic living needs are being met. Tasks include: Collaboration with client, providers and supports/families to determine unmet needs; assisting with the development of treatment plans; carrying out treatment plan interventions to supports clients to achieve goals; directly assists clients in accessing and maintaining needed services; records and documents case history for planning and accountability purposes. Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities Required: Knowledge of mental illness symptoms, treatments and functional ability of persons with severe and prolonged mental illness. Knowledge of mental health community support systems as well as navigating such systems. Knowledge of treatment plan development and working with an multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • An Associates Degree in one of the Social or Behavioral Sciences and 4 years’ experience in professional level mental health work -OR- a Bachelors Degree in one of the Social or Behavioral Sciences and two (2) years’ experience in professional level mental health work -OR- a Master’s Degree in one of the Social or Behavioral Sciences.
  • Equivalent work experience in professional level mental health work may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Some positions may require a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) license as issued by the Maine State Board of Social Worker Licensure or certification as a Mental Health Rehabilitation Technician - Community (MHRT-C) issued by the Muskie School of Public Service.
