About The Position

AST SpaceMobile is building the first and only global cellular broadband network in space to operate directly with standard, unmodified mobile devices based on our extensive IP and patent portfolio and designed for both commercial and government applications. Our engineers and space scientists are on a mission to eliminate the connectivity gaps faced by today’s five billion mobile subscribers and finally bring broadband to the billions who remain unconnected. Position Overview We are seeking an Electrical Engineering, RF Integration and Test Intern to join our team for the 2026 Summer Internship Program supporting the AST SpaceMobile Defense team in RF SATCOM lab and over the air testing as well as Radar function testing. Test setup and debug, Analysis tool development, automated analysis scripts, test documentation, test development and execution, and test data analysis. This is a 14-week internship beginning 06/01/2026 at our Lanham, MD. To be considered for the internship you must be enrolled in the following semester. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical field.
  • Senior year (final year) standing preferred.
  • Coursework or project experience with RF testing, RF signal processing, digital beamforming, RF communications, or radar systems
  • Experience with RF testing in a laboratory environment with RF test equipment
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Analytical mindset with interest in process optimization.
  • Effective communication and teamwork across functions.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, document, and execute integration and test plans for space-based RF and communications systems.
  • Hands-on integration of hardware and software subsystems, troubleshooting issues at the interface and system level.
  • Collaborate with hardware, software, and systems engineering teams to define interface requirements and resolve integration challenges in a timely manner.
  • Work with SMEs to execute system-level performance testing in lab, anechoic chamber, and OTA satellite environments.
  • Analyze test data and translate results into clear reports, presentations, and recommendations for stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
  • Contribute to the development of automated test scripts and procedures to improve efficiency and test coverage.
  • Support system verification, validation, and customer acceptance testing activities.
