Intern, Optical Fabrication Engineering
About The Position
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Optical Fabrication Engineering Intern to join our team for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience through learning some of the many processes throughout this production area and then update/create WI's. You will work alongside industry professionals and contribute to meaningful projects that support our team and company objectives. At Coherent, interns are valued members of our team and have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions from day one. In addition to hands-on project experience, our internship program includes opportunities to connect with fellow interns and colleagues across the organization through virtual and in-person networking events, team-building activities and more. Interns are expected to actively participate in these events as part of their professional development and to fully immerse themselves in our collaborative and innovative culture.
Requirements
- Logically minded and good mechanical problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, teaming, and problem-solving skills
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude
- Minimum of 1 year of course work completed from an accredited university in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science or other applicable college programs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Team-oriented but able to work independently when needed.
- Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and time management.
Responsibilities
- Assist engineering staff with daily projects and duties
- Support department 5S initiatives
