About The Position

The Inventory Control and Purchasing Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate inventory levels and ensuring the timely procurement of materials required to support manufacturing operations. This role monitors inventory usage, manages purchase orders, coordinates with suppliers, and works closely with production and warehouse teams to ensure materials are available to meet production demands while maintaining cost efficiency.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 2–5 years of experience in inventory control, purchasing, or supply chain functions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift or move materials up to 15 pounds.
  • Ability to access warehouses and production areas as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience using ERP or MRP systems preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records for raw materials, components, and operational supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate replenishment to support production schedules.
  • Manage month end and year-end inventory.
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Generate and process purchase orders in accordance with company purchasing procedures.
  • Track purchase orders to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, and delivery schedules.
  • Evaluate supplier performance related to delivery, quality, and service.
  • Work closely with production, warehouse, and planning teams to anticipate material requirements.
  • Maintain purchasing and inventory data within ERP or MRP systems.
  • Prepare inventory and purchasing reports for management review.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy and purchasing efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
