About The Position

As a IT Asset Engineer at Penumbra, you will play a critical role in determining the company's long term goals. The IT Asset Engineer supports employees with information technology equipment requests and issues related to end-user hardware and asset management. This role maintains accurate and timely records of IT assets within the organization’s IT Asset Management (ITAM) system and assists with tracking hardware inventory throughout its lifecycle. This role will partner with cross-functional IT teams to support equipment provisioning, deployment, maintenance, and retirement activities. This position helps monitor asset-related incidents and contributes to identifying recurring issues, escalating trends as appropriate. This role supports reporting efforts and assists in maintaining cost-effective asset management practices while ensuring compliance with internal processes and standards. The IT Asset Engineer demonstrates strong attention to detail, technical troubleshooting capability, and the ability to execute established ITAM processes effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with 5+ years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Solid understanding of ServiceNow asset management.
  • ITIL and ITSM certification.
  • Strong understanding of ITIL Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) best practices.
  • Hands on experience with Windows and Mac Laptops provisioning and troubleshooting both hardware and software issues.
  • Strong knowledge of Endpoints (Laptops and Handheld devices) product lifecycles.
  • Experience in evaluating new products to select the devices with the best cost and performance efficiency.
  • Proven experience in IT asset management, inventory management, or IT operations.
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with contract and vendor management preferred.
  • Knowledge of IT security principles related to asset management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the lifecycle management of IT assets, including procurement coordination, deployment, maintenance, refresh activities, reclamation, and disposal in accordance with established processes.
  • Maintain accurate asset records within the CMDB, ensuring timely updates and adherence to defined ITIL-based standards.
  • Follow established asset management policies and procedures to support compliance with software licensing and security requirements.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT Experience Services, HR, Finance) to ensure accurate asset data, support procurement processes, and assist with cost tracking efforts.
  • Assist with inventory audits and asset reconciliations; identify discrepancies and escalate risks as appropriate.
  • Support inventory management, hardware logistics, and deployment activities in alignment with documented ITIL practices.
  • Contribute to documentation efforts, including updating SOPs and knowledge articles related to asset management processes.
  • Participate in system enhancements or tool implementations by supporting testing, data validation, and workflow updates.
  • Compile and provide asset data and reporting metrics to leadership to support operational review and decision-making.
