The Clinical Informatics Specialist within Digital Technology Services (DTS) supports the safe and effective implementation and optimization of clinical application systems for Hackensack Meridian Health (HMH) team members across the network. Helps to determine clinical user needs and facilitates system modifications to comply with Regulatory and HMH Quality standards while promoting safe patient care. Participates in structured rounding in clinical areas to communicate and reinforce system changes in clinical areas for EPIC upgrades, workflow changes, and quality improvement initiatives. This is a hybrid position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical Informatics, or related health care or technology field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a relevant field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or other related relevant software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office and Google Suite platforms.
  • Effectively collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team daily.
  • EPIC Informatics and/or relevant certification (s) at hire or to be obtained within six (6) months of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 or more years of participation in informatics councils, quality improvement initiatives or operational management positions.
  • Board Certification by American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) in Nursing Informatics or other specialty certification in Informatics.
  • Proficient in EPIC Electronic Medical Records.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes current practice, workflow, and the potential impact of an informatics solution on that workflow.
  • Involves crucial stakeholders in an issue or problem and its informatics solution.
  • Integrates current and future requirements into a vision for an informatics solution.
  • Conduct systems analysis to determine information needs.
  • Develop functional and technical specifications based upon identified needs
  • Assists with project implementations, supporting and staffing for system go-lives as assigned.
  • Provides rounding support as scheduled in units/departments in all hospital divisions as well as other HMH sites, to provide informatics related updates and collect feedback.
  • Documents and incorporates feedback on the effectiveness of informatics solutions.
  • Is fluent in informatics terminology and approved clinical vocabularies.
  • Collects data to monitor quality and effectiveness of clinical informatics practice using tools developed for that purpose.
  • Attend and contribute to EMR governance councils as assigned.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
