About The Position

Permian Resources is offering internship opportunities to college students to help their career development while advancing the objectives of the company. These paid summer intern opportunities will grant hands-on experience related to their field of study by working on specific projects that will aid their learning and add value to the Company. Each intern will be paired with a manager and mentor who will provide technical guidance throughout the internship. Along with their projects, interns will take part in a multitude of activities such as training, field tours, volunteer and networking opportunities with executives. The internship will culminate with a presentation crafted to showcase your knowledge of your work assignments and other aspects of your internship experiences. IT Internship Job Description: The intern will assist with a variety of IT and technology-focused functions, including system support, scripting and automation, hardware and software configuration, troubleshooting, and technical documentation. Depending on background and interests, the intern may also support application development, data management initiatives, AI-enabled workflows, cybersecurity efforts, and end-user technical assistance. This role is well-suited for candidates who are excited about applying programming, analytical, and AI concepts in a real-world, enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical curiosity, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer and/or educational institution
  • Pursuing or have completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field
  • Current level in college: Sophomore through Graduate student
  • Expected graduation: Spring/Fall 2028 (two summers remaining)
  • Available for internship start mid-to-late May 2026
  • A minimum of 12 continuous weeks of availability for the internship

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum cumulative and major GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (lower GPAs may be considered if extenuating circumstances apply)
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
  • Coursework or hands-on experience with SQL and relational databases
  • Experience or exposure to Python for data analysis, automation, scripting, or application development
  • Familiarity with basic IT concepts, such as networking, hardware/software troubleshooting, system administration, or cybersecurity fundamentals
  • Exposure to AI tools, Large Language Models (LLMs), or prompt engineering, including using AI to analyze data, draft documentation, or improve workflows
  • Familiarity with data analysis, reporting, or business intelligence concepts
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deliver results in a performance-driven, team-oriented environment
