About The Position

Program Dates:  Monday, June 1 - Friday, August 7 Looking to make your summer unforgettable? Dive into exciting internship opportunities at Northeast Shared Services! . Join us this summer and embark on a journey filled with growth, learning, and endless possibilities! This is a 10 week program and all opportunities are located on-site. The IT Network Engineering Intern will support enterprise network operations with a focus on wireless network improvements, store network availability testing, and network maintenance activities. This role is designed for students interested in practical, hands-on network and security experience. The internship will include wireless coverage analysis and optimization support, communications testing on backup circuits in Price Chopper stores, identification of maintenance opportunities for high-uptime devices, and exposure to enterprise network concepts and security. You will learn: Practical network and security skills in an enterprise environment How wireless networking affects retail operations and site performance How backup circuits support network availability and resilience How network teams document improvements, test results, and maintenance recommendations

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a college or university program in IT Networking, IT Security, Network Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Interest in networking, enterprise infrastructure, or security operations
  • Strong analytical thinking and attention to detail
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to document technical work in an organized, usable format

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or lab exposure related to networking, wireless, infrastructure, or security
  • Comfort working with Excel or similar tools for tracking and analysis
  • Interest in career paths such as Junior Network Engineer, Junior Security Analyst, or IT Field Technician

Responsibilities

  • Identify wireless coverage opportunities or weak areas that affect store operations.
  • Support analysis and optimization of wireless coverage in priority environments.
  • Document network improvements, findings, and recommendations clearly.
  • Assist with communications testing on backup circuits in Price Chopper stores, especially backup cellular circuits.
  • Identify stores or devices with high uptimes that should be considered for maintenance reboot tasks.
  • Support patching-related documentation or coordination for systems that do not require downtime, such as UPS units.
  • Participate in learning opportunities related to enterprise networking, operational monitoring, and security concepts.
  • Present project outcomes and recommendations at the end of the internship.
