About The Position

The Barry Robinson Center is a premier behavioral health system dedicated to improving the lives of children since 1933. We offer residential treatment, outpatient services and foster care from our campus in Norfolk, VA. We are a mental and behavioral health facility that provides help to military connected you. We are seeking an IT Systems Administrator to Provide technical oversight, administration, and support for the organization’s information technology systems and infrastructure. The System Administrator is responsible for managing a Windows Server and Microsoft 365 Hybrid cloud environment, supporting network operations, and supervising IT Specialist staff to ensure reliable, secure, and efficient IT services. This role supports day-to-day IT operations, EHR systems, Exchange management, and network infrastructure while delivering excellent customer service to staff and clients. Schedule: Onsite Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Expected to be responsive outside of regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience as a System Administrator or similar role.
  • Experience managing Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies
  • Hyper V
  • PowerShell scripting
  • Strong understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, subnets, firewalls, VPNs).
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex system issues independently.
  • Microsoft certifications or similar experience. (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, AZ 104/Azure Administrator).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Intune and hybrid identity desired but not required.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) environments.
  • Manage Active Directory, including domains, forests, OUs, group policies, DNS, DHCP, and replication.
  • Monitor server performance, availability, capacity, ensure adherence to best practices across servers, domain controllers and endpoints.
  • Maintain virtualization platforms (Hyper V) including provisioning, resource allocation, and troubleshooting.
  • Support hybrid identity environments including Azure/Entra AD Connect, federation services, and synchronization troubleshooting.
  • Provide tier 2 escalation support for system related incidents and requests.
  • Monitor patching, updates, and maintenance windows.
  • Assist with software related to Revenue cycle, EMR, Payroll Information Management, HR Information System.
  • Other device management includes cell phones, 2- way radios, tablets, and related devices.
  • Initiate work requests and coordinate completion with related personnel and IT consultants.
  • Interface with identified department heads, administrative committees, and other groups/teams around identification of patterns of information flow, work processes, and integration.
  • Provide training and education to applicable staff on all things related to IT.
  • Initiate requests for purchasing/repairing/maintaining computer equipment and software including capital requests.
