At COP27 and CMA4, the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the Conference of the Parties serving as the Meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement (CMA) established funding arrangements to assist developing countries particularly vulnerable to climate change. This decision included the creation of a dedicated Fund for responding to Loss and Damage (FRLD). Since then, the COP/CMA formally approved the Fund’s Governing Instrument, authorized the FRLD’s Board to secure a hosting arrangement with the World Bank, which includes hosting the Fund’s Secretariat. The FRLD Secretariat, hosted by the World Bank in Washington, D.C., supports FRLD governing bodies, manages institutional relations, aids in strategy, policy, and program development, and oversees management systems. The FRLD Secretariat seeks a highly motivated Extended-Term Temporary (ETT 4) to temporarily serve as a Junior Digital and Media Communications Analyst to the FRLD. The Junior Analyst will collaborate closely across the FRLD Secretariat and with the FRLD stakeholders, including governments, international institutions, observers, etc. The Junior Analyst will also perform analytics functions related to developing the necessary dashboards, platforms, and other supporting materials, such as slide decks, spreadsheets, and draft documents, etc. Ideal candidate will possess strong relationship-building skills, and excellent project management, communication, and interpersonal skills. The Junior Analyst will report to the Program Manager for Resource Mobilization, Communications, and Partnerships and be an integral part of the Communications pillar of that unit. The Junior Analyst will be based in Washington, DC.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, multimedia design, business administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 4 years of professional experience in multimedia production, editorial writing, content strategy, or communications design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro), Canva, or equivalent tools.
  • Experience managing content on CMS platforms such as WordPress.
  • Familiarity with social media analytics and scheduling tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Strong ability to analyze and synthesize data, produce reports and presentations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English required, knowledge of other language(s) is a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support the coordination and preparation of press kits, media briefings, and stakeholder updates.
  • Contribute to developing compelling stories that communicate the impact of FRLD-supported programs.
  • Develop and execute social media strategies aligned with FRLD communications goals.
  • Create content for LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms, including visuals, captions, and short videos.
  • Track engagement metrics and optimize content based on analytics.
  • Design FRLD publications, brochures, factsheets, infographics, and campaign materials for print and digital dissemination.
  • Ensure consistency in visual identity and branding across all communications.
  • Manage updates to the FRLD website, including news items, resources, and event pages.
  • Coordinate web development tasks with IT teams or external vendors.
  • Ensure accessibility, usability, and responsiveness of digital content.
  • Create multimedia content for high-level meetings, conferences (e.g., COPs), and stakeholder events.
  • Design visual materials and promotional assets for advocacy campaigns and key launches.
  • Developing dashboards, platforms, and other supporting tools.
  • Produce analytical materials, spreadsheets, and draft documents.
