About The Position

Axle Funding is seeking a Junior Commercial Underwriter to join the Credit Department at our corporate office in Dallas, Texas. The Junior Underwriter assists with a variety of functions within the Credit Department, including processing contracts, filing state UCC liens, and supporting other credit related activities for auto auction floorplan credit lines for both current and prospective customers. The Junior Underwriter will receive training to evaluate and make credit decisions on certain applications in accordance with Axle Funding underwriting standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or a minimum of three years of underwriting experience required.
  • Ability to work in the corporate office in Dallas 5 days per week
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Adobe, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment to achieve quality and volume objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and business communication skills.
  • Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from diverse groups including branch personnel and executive leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English and Spanish preferred.
  • Preferred experience or knowledge related to UCC procedures and requirements.
  • Auto auction industry experience or familiarity preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare received applications for review, including gathering required documentation, requesting credit bureau reports, conducting background searches, and completing internal processing requirements for the Credit team.
  • Interact with field personnel to resolve outstanding items related to credit applications and contracting.
  • File and maintain UCC documentation, including original filings, amendments, continuations, and terminations.
  • Monitor all PMSI notices received from other UCC lien holders to ensure proper collateral position is maintained.
  • Maintain and update customer account information including email, phone number, address, and other account changes.
  • Review relevant credit and financial documentation including bank statements, credit bureau reports, and internal credit and performance information.
  • Analyze financial information and perform credit analysis related to commercial transactions.
  • Prepare written credit analyses that include independent credit quality assessments, supported risk ratings, identification of credit risks and mitigants, financial trends, and other relevant credit considerations.
  • Assist senior underwriters in reviewing credit applications and supporting the credit decision process in accordance with company underwriting standards.
  • Develop relationships with internal personnel and provide responsive customer service support.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities accurately and on time while supporting Axle Funding goals and values.
  • Interact with Credit, Compliance, and Collections leadership as needed.
  • Perform additional duties and support other management directives as assigned.
