About The Position

Designs by Sundown is seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented Landscape Design Associate to join our team. This role is ideal for candidates who are passionate about residential landscape design and eager to learn in a collaborative, hands‑on environment. In this role, you will contribute to all phases of the design process while working closely with Senior Designers and project teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited university.
  • Minimum 1 year of experience (internships included).
  • Valid Colorado Driver’s License and clean MVR.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and SketchUp.
  • Strong graphic communication skills with a portfolio showcasing high-quality work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with local municipality permitting processes.
  • Proficiency in Lumion.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Front Range plant materials.
  • Experience in residential landscape architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D renderings, image boards, and visual graphics to support Client Design Presentations.
  • Conduct comprehensive site inventory and analysis, including soil assessment, lighting conditions, views, architecture, vegetation, and other existing site elements; translate findings into accurate Base Maps.
  • Assist Senior Staff in producing permit packages, plans, and bid sets, as well as scheduling and ordering plant materials and construction components.
  • Participate in all phases of project development, including site analysis, schematic design, construction detailing, document production, and overall project coordination.
  • Collaborate with Senior Designers to develop complete Client Presentation Packages, including conceptual plans, 3D models, planting plans, and hardscape layouts.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil and structural engineers, and contractors to support integrated project development.
  • Produce clear and compelling renderings and graphics to communicate design intent to clients and project stakeholders.
  • Assist with obtaining permit and jurisdictional approvals, including preparing submittals and responding to agency comments.
  • Manage workload effectively, demonstrating the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and adapt to frequent interruptions.
  • Support general design and documentation efforts and perform additional duties as assigned.
