About The Position

The CNC Laser/Plasma Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC laser and plasma cutting machines to produce high-quality components that meet production and customer requirements. This role includes setup, operation, inspection, and material handling, while ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and throughput standards.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of CNC laser and plasma cutting machine operations.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Familiarity with precision measuring tools and inspection techniques.
  • Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn AS9100 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 1-year related experience operating CNC cutting equipment or similar machinery.
  • Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Messer-based controllers.
  • Prior work experience in aerospace, defense, or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Additional training or certification in CNC operations or quality systems.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a 6000Watt fiber laser and 400AMP plasma cutter using a Messer-based controller and supplied nests.
  • Perform quality inspections prior to beginning production on each job.
  • Use a Brinell hardness scope to test material hardness and properly store coupons in compliance with company traceability systems.
  • Pull, bench, and skid work to support production requirements.
  • Complete and advance work orders through the PLEX system in a timely manner.
  • Maintain consumables associated with cutting operations.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes for loading and unloading materials.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and drawings, including both standard and metric dimensions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and throughput goals.
  • Inspect finished work using basic measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges.
  • Support in benching parts as needed for cutting operations.
  • Maintain quality standards by preventing defects from moving downstream in the operation.
