About The Position

Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures related to diagnostic imaging; specifically Computed Tomography. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks requiring a certain degree of creativity and latitude. Produces computerized tomographic scanner images of the appropriate anatomy according to departmental policies and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals efficiently. Performs a variety of tasks. Leads and monitors the work of others within area.

Requirements

In depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and cross-sectional anatomy.
Knowledge of the following:
- Performing all basic and complex CT studies.
- Principles and techniques of multi-slice CT scanning.
- Advanced computer operations (including keyboard input and proper selection of protocols to scan various anatomical sections.)
- Radiation protection standard, devices and techniques to assure that adequate safeguards are maintained.
- Knowledge of regulatory compliance
- Experience of ACR guidelines preferred
Responsible to keep license current and provide copy on annual basis.

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Completion of a Radiologic Technologist Program
2 years - CT Technologist
ARRT (CT)
Certified Radiology Technologist
CPR Certification

Responsibilities

Meets and introduces themselves to patient prior to exam.
Performs CT examinations following EIC Radiologist’s set Protocols
Full understanding and operation of all CT equipment, including cardiac gating and transferring of images to outside facilities [IELCAP].
Recognizes pathology and takes responsibility to perform additional images for study enhancement
Maintains constant communication with guest throughout study.
Maintains all clinical equipment, including daily QC, and ability to troubleshoot all CT equipment. Notifies service as needed, maintains service logs and reports any and all performance issues to Clinical Supervisor.
Responsible to program and operate IV Contrast injectors and Proctocol System.
Verifies contrast is appropriately loaded into injector prior to injection of contrast.
Verifies and/or obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns.
Verifies physician order, patient’s consent, obtains patient history, explains standard procedures, and addresses patient concerns prior to performing exam.
Verifies that appropriate clinical information is included with scan interpretation.
Operation of 3-D workstation, PACs System and printers.
Coordinates patient’s scheduled exam and appropriate medical necessity with Guest Scheduling Representative(s).
Follows radiation safety guidelines and utilizes lead shielding as required.
Consults Radiologist with any and all acute positive findings and communicates exam results with referring physician(s) as requested.
Responsible to observe all IV Contrast injections and respond appropriately.
Practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.
Responsible for accurate coding and completing of all ordered procedures.
Confirms Physician’s Order and Patient’s Consent, prior to performing scheduled CT Exam.
Performs other related duties as required.
Ability to manage high patient volumes.
Supervises daily workflow of department and day to day operations
Responsible for overall quality & training of protocols for department including new employees.
Assists with development of policy, procedures, and protocols for department
Maintains ACR standards for department if applicable
Provides leadership, guidance and direction to other personnel as required.
Assures timely accomplishment of assignments and ensures they meet organizational objectives.
Established and maintains an organized workflow.
Reports to Immediate Supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of employees including disciplinary problems.
Uses Universal Precautions in all situations per policy and procedure
Demonstrates knowledge of exam room sterile field procedures.
Sets up sterile trays and assists the Radiologist in invasive procedures with CT / Ultrasound guidance.

Effectively communicates with supervisor regarding department operations and supports the achievement of department goals.
Keeps staff informed on any policy & procedure or operational changes as discussed in Lead Meetings.
Assists in new and renewal ACR accreditations

Reduces noise levels in all areas; keeps voice down and does not discuss personal matters where patients/visitors may overhear.
