About The Position

Eaton’s ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer / Design Supervisor - Switchgear. The expected annual salary range for this role is $97000 - $143000 a year. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. This role requires working on-site daily M-F at our Greenwood, SC facility. If needed, Relocation assistance and/or Visa Sponsorship will be provided for a qualified candidate. What you’ll do: PRIMARY FUNCTION Supervise front-end designers, maintain production schedules to meet shop load requirements, and implement all division drafting standards. As required, review and approve necessary mechanical & electrical drawings including, but not limited to, schematic and wiring diagrams for complex assemblies from customer specifications and information; perform a wide variety of activities requiring the application of more complex related technical knowledge. Coordinate with Application Engineers, Proposal Engineers, and Direct Sales Engineers to prepare the drawing packages for customer approval or manufacturing; provide support and lead on the customer projects, assisting drafting, manufacturing and procurement with engineering documentation and guidance. Travel to customer sites as required and meet with customers during plant visits to ensure product meets customer, engineering, and application specifications. This role will be the Lead Design Engineer for Eatons's VisoVac MV/LV switchgear product line. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS • Act as subject matter expert for VisoVac MV switchgear product line • Plan and direct the front-end order engineering, mechanical, and/or electrical drafting of customer orders. • Ensure technical adequacy of designed product through necessary calculations. • Specify ratings for all buyout equipment used in the final assembly of product. • Remain knowledgeable of required personnel-related policies and procedures. • Correct employee actions or behavior to ensure adherence with policies, etc. • Lead drafting and support efforts in the Greenwood, SC plant. This includes division-drafting standards, drafting systems, and drawing formats. • Prepare complex layouts, control diagrams, sketches and drawings relating to new and modified equipment specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretation to the general order. • Prepare necessary information to ensure efficient and timely material procurement, manufacturing testing, and installation of assemblies. • Maintain contact with manufacturing personnel to review and discuss drawings, modifications, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of equipment. • Assist and train engineers, designers, and technicians in all aspects of mechanical and electrical drafting and engineering techniques, product applications and systems; recommend technical methods or approaches for these personnel to increase their overall quality, timeliness, and productivity. • As required perform customer order engineering. Analyze and interpret customer inquiries relating to assemblies, preparing manufacturing information for production. • Maintain contact with Eaton project management, customers, or customer representatives to clarify and interpret customer specifications and to resolve problems. • Support and assist Sales, Application Engineers, Proposal Engineers, and Drafting: o Review and analyze product configurations and components, design circuits, perform calculations and provide input to other departments including OPEX, Supply Chain and manufacturing. o Support company initiatives such as strategic new product design, market and product communications, competitive analysis, customer relations, and productivity, cost, quality, and safety improvements. o Support and assist with project review/drawing approval meetings. o Participate and support customer inspections and witness tests. o Lead projects to support lead-times, OTP, and product warranty. o Analyze manufacturing change notice and warranty data to determine root cause and corrective actions to drive continuous improvement to reduce engineering errors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Four (4) years of experience in electrical engineering or electrical design within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience leading design engineering projects or supervising engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a power systems emphasis.
  • Medium Voltage Switchgear design and manufacturing experience .. or.. other Power Utility Electrical components ( e.g. Transformers)
  • Two (2) years managing people, and leading efforts to design complex mechanical or electrical drawings or some combination of these in a complex, engineered to order (ETO) manufacturing environment.
  • Previous experience preparing complex layouts, control diagrams, sketches and drawings relating to new and modified equipment specifications, as well as from customer engineering interpretation to the general order.
  • Previous experience preparing necessary information to ensure efficient and timely material procurement, manufacturing testing, and installation of assemblies.
  • Previous experience with manufacturing personnel to review and discuss drawings, modifications, and progress of work relating to the design and manufacture of equipment.
  • Previous experience assisting and training engineers, designers, and technicians in all aspects of mechanical and electrical drafting and engineering techniques, product applications and systems; recommend technical methods.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess good organizational and prioritization skills to maintain and address multiple assigned projects and expectations.
  • Must be able to travel as necessary to effectively interface with customers and other required contacts, to work at various outside/inside site locations, and to manage or participate in company-related projects, activities, or other job-related assignments.
