About The Position

Attention: The Department of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for a full-time Academic Staff Lecturer (TL020) in Graphic Design, with an emphasis on Publication Design as well as experience in Digital UI/UX Interface Design, beginning in Fall 2026. Job Details: The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s growing programs in Visual Communication Design and Media Arts and Game Development (MAGD). This position is a full-time, renewable, nine-month appointment.

Requirements

A Masters (MA, MFA) in Graphic Design or an equivalent terminal degree with a focus in publication design and UI/UX design is required.
Candidates must demonstrate a strong command of typography, visual communication, and conceptual design skills, and be fluent in current UI/UX design trends, concepts and theories.
Proficiency in relevant industry-standard software and the Macintosh platform is expected, along with an understanding of cross-platform workflows.
Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

Nice To Haves

Previous university-level teaching experience in all levels of Graphic Design is highly preferred.
Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in 4-D design and those who demonstrate a strong record of professional creative activity.
Furthermore, individuals with dedicated teaching and/or professional experience with AI software usage within ethical, creative use applications and outcomes are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses in Digital Foundations (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), Publication Design (InDesign), and UI/UX Interface Design, along with potential assignments in the General Education course World of the Arts (WOTA).
Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to inclusive and effective teaching practices, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
