About The Position

This part-time position (20 hrs/week) will assist with the UNH Library’s Materials Management Program’s FY26-27 project to de-access 30% of the UNH-Durham Library collection, as well as the likely relocation of the ~20,000 item Physics Branch Library. Under the supervision of the Materials Management Program Lead, but with a great deal of autonomy, performs core functions of the physical relocation of library materials. Provides work direction to student library assistants and problem solves project and facility concerns. Performs staff level functions of materials movement work, including use of independent judgment and discretion in problem solving and record keeping, upkeep of Program and project documentation, as well as maintenance of Defensive Driving certification. The individual in this role is self-motivated and conscientious with consistent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and accurately.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated attention to detail and experience maintaining accurate records, managing tasks (sometimes multiple), exercising discretion, and planning and organizing work to meet evolving priorities.
  • Equivalent combination of education and/or experience that provides the necessary knowledge and skills to be successful in the role.
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to complete defensive driving certification.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment and take initiative to improve workflow, processes and organizational efficiencies.
  • Ability to push heavy loads (up to 30lbs force) regularly and lift/push multiple lighter loads (up to 65lbs).
  • Comfortable working in a team-based environment and a proven ability and willingness to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Basic computer skills and an ability to learn new computer software programs and platforms; working knowledge of Microsoft Excel a plus.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct & coordinate materials movement work in Dimond, branches, and the Library Storage Building. Includes fair working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and on-the-fly project management.
  • With colleagues, track/resolve project-related issues, including records investigation in the Library’s LSP, Alma.
  • Obtains and maintains Defensive Driving certification. Operates a variety of vehicles in accordance with university regulations as well as state and federal laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
