Works under the direct supervision of Substance Abuse Clinical Director and/or the Program Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Performs moderately complex substance abuse counseling work. Work involves planning, coordinating, and implementing substance abuse counseling activities, and coordinating with other departments, divisions, agencies, and community organizations to ensure the maximum utilization of resources available for chemical dependency treatment and rehabilitation. Will have frequent contact with sources of community referral agencies, such as Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, school systems, Adult and Juvenile Probation, Adult Parole, other law enforcement personnel. Will also work with mental health staff at Helen Farabee Centers for continuity of care. Facilitates social worker and other behavioral health interns/practicum students in the substance abuse program, under volunteer services. Coordinates admissions into Center outpatient adult & adolescent services. Will work with clients involved in the legal system and/or the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Will carry a caseload and be responsible for serving individuals who have co-occurring disorders. Works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
