The Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a licensed veterinary technician to join our team at Cornell Ruffian Equine Specialists located in Elmont, NY. In this fast-paced, collaborative environment, the technician will play a key role in supporting equine patient care across multiple services, including surgery, anesthesia, and diagnostic imaging, while working closely with clinicians, veterinary students, and technicians to deliver outstanding care. This LVT will support a variety of functions in the hospital. The Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: Patient Care & Case Flow: Receive and discharge equine patients, coordinate daily patient flow, assist with exams and emergencies, administer medications, perform inpatient monitoring, and provide pre- and post-procedure nursing care. Surgical & Anesthesia Support: Assist with the preparation and execution of surgical procedures, including patient preparation, anesthesia induction and monitoring, circulating during procedures, recovery, and maintaining sterile technique and surgical equipment. Diagnostic Imaging: Perform and assist with imaging procedures including radiography, standing MRI, nuclear scintigraphy, CT, and ultrasound and safely prepare and position patients while maintaining radiation safety standards. Clinical Operations & Support: Maintain clinical equipment and supplies, perform routine laboratory testing, manage case records and inventories, support DVM students and externs, assist with research sample handling, and participate in rotating after-hours emergency coverage. Employees working in the hospital must receive the pre-exposure rabies prophylaxis vaccination series prior to or immediately after hire, which will be paid for by the department.
