For more information, please visit our website at www.ofcc.org SUMMARY Our Lifeguards and Swim Instructors create a welcoming and exceptional experience for the Club’s members and guests at the Pool. In coordination with the Lead Swim Coach, they coach and provide guidance and instruction to our Junior Aquatics Program participants, swim team, water polo, and driving. They may also provide private or group instruction on swimming techniques to improve member skills.

Requirements

  • American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
  • American Red Cross Basic First Aid
  • American Red Cross CPR Card
  • Extensive knowledge of and ability to administer or use first aid, CPR, AED, and other lifesaving techniques.
  • 1 to 3 years of prior swim instructor experience required.
  • Strong knowledge of swimming techniques.
  • Ability to adapt teaching and instruction styles based on the level and style of the Swimmer.
  • Fluent, written, and conversational English.
  • Comfortable working outside in a hot and noisy environment.
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods and move freely about the Pool area.
  • Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls, and pushes between 30 and 200 lbs with assistance.
  • Possess a personality that makes people feel welcome, with a passion for providing an outstanding member experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, diplomatic, and communication skills.
  • Projects a calm, professional demeanor at all times and works well under pressure and in emergencies.
  • Must be reliable and punctual.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming environment for all members.
  • Supervise swimming activities in the pool area.
  • Ensure that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed.
  • Administer first aid or lifesaving techniques as needed.
  • Support kids' club events when needed.
  • Supervise youth and participate in club summer camp activities.
  • Lead program activities such as games, arts and crafts, sports, etc.
  • Ensure the safety, development, and well-being of all youth.
  • Other duties as assigned
