About The Position

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Logistics Specialist in Dulles, Virginia. The Logistics Specialist position is responsible for coordinating and directing the activities of Carter's delivery vehicle fleet in a manner that maximizes customer satisfaction, employee productivity, and reduces contract hauling to customers. Responsibilities include managing the delivery schedules, ensuring compliance with safety policies and procedures and DOT regulations. Seeking candidates with previous experience in transportation/logistics; College degree a plus.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of transportation/logistics procedures.
  • Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong time management/organizational skills to manage, monitor and track progress of situations simultaneously.
  • Must be able to adjust to changing job priorities.
  • Strong PC skills required (Microsoft Word, internet, and Outlook E-mail).
  • Excellent internal and external customer satisfaction skills.
  • Must have an excellent driving record.
  • Some travel is required – overnight or out town via car or airplane.
  • Must possess ability to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be willing to work additional hours as needed to meet business and customer demands.

  • Physical requirements must be met for the Logistics Specialist job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
