Supervise and direct warehouse receiving/shipping activities in accordance with mandated sanitary regulations, current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMPs) and established company procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D. certification required.
Five years stable work history in areas such as agriculture, production, or manufacturing preferred.
Specific knowledge of industrial warehouse/shipping processes, in an edible or non-edible food processing plant.
Good Vision, Corrected to Normal; or Ability to Access Required Information and to Perform Job Duties

This job requires the mental capabilities to analyze situations in determining workable time-frames in shipping product; organizational abilities in maintaining and controlling inventory.
Additionally, this employee must be able to handle multiple tasks and possess a basic understanding of the production process.
Ability to work effectively with direct reports; train, monitor and evaluate employees to assure proper storage, shipping and receiving of products within the warehouse department.

College degree in business or management preferred.
Supervisory experience and two years of experience within a food processing plant as a logistics/warehouse preferred.

Responsibilities

Supervises the Logistics/Warehouse staff.
Oversee the shipping and receiving area workflow which includes all tasks and appropriate documentation of the following: Receiving / Unloading Shipment preparation Movement of all inventory to and from storage locations Warehousing / Storage / Distribution
Promote and ensure employees adhere to all established company policies and procedures including safety training, all mandated sanitary policies and regulations.
Conduct and provide additional training for logistics/warehouse personnel as needed.
Ensure fundamental food safety and quality practices maintained to achieve food safety and quality objectives and to support the development, implementation and maintenance and ongoing improvements of food safety programs.
Hire logistics/warehouse personnel and conduct work performance evaluations.
Conduct regularly scheduled departmental meetings to enhance communication throughout the plant and across all shifts.
Create and approve staff monthly schedule and requests for time off.
Coordinate with Production/Safety Coordinator to ensure proper coverage on all shifts.
Provide corrective action measures where appropriate according to company policies and procedures.
Verify accuracy of Shipping Paperwork for all loads shipped in collaboration with Lab & Office Assistant
Print labels & pallet sheets for outgoing loads in collaboration with Lab & Office Assistant.
Creates the BOL/Shipping paperwork in AS400 for loads going to out.
Back up to Administrative Assistant for external warehouse loads going out; making sure the seal number and container/trailer number are accurate. (Shared responsibility with Warehouse personnel based on workload and time of day.)
Verify production records by reviewing the Inventory records in Infor and confirming that production was placed into the system correctly and under the correct production date and in the correct quantity. In conjunction with Lab & Office Assistant.
Distribute product photos and documentation to customers per special requirements.
Communicate regularly with Sales, Logistics, Quality, and Production departments regarding scheduling of product shipment, product availability, and supplies.
Ensure flow of shipments as scheduled, redirecting employees to areas of the process needing immediate attention or support.
Conduct periodic inventory audits to be sure product is in the correct location.
Operate forklifts and pallet jacks as needed.
Facilitate daily forklift inspections.
Maintain a clean shipping/warehouse area for safe working conditions.
Update systems with product movement information for efficient operation of the warehouse.
Responsible to assure the products manufactured are stored in the warehouse and leave the warehouse in the same condition they arrived.
Must be able to distinguish if food safety violations or product quality issues occur and resolve immediately or, if unable to resolve immediately, contact appropriate plant management (i.e. the Plant Manager and/or the QC Manager).
Ensure responsibilities and tasks are accounted for in Logistics/Warehouse in the event of absences.
Operate and train personnel on equipment and machinery used in warehouse duties.
Maintain a high level of confidentiality related to all duties and responsibilities.
Monitor the shipping processes, anticipate production concerns and make effective decisions while striving for continuity of the warehousing process.
Ensure staff’s proper wear of PPE when necessary; when filling batteries with water, inspection of docks, etc.
Analyze, forecast and plan shipping objectives.
Remain calm and professional at all times.
Perform basic and complex mathematical calculations.
Work daily and overtime as necessary.
Assist in other work-related areas as requested.
Work in a team environment and implement continuous improvement.
Ability to communicate/collaborate with other plant personnel to assure efficient timely shipments.
Ability to work effectively with direct reports; train, monitor and evaluate employees to assure proper storage, shipping and receiving of products within the warehouse department.
Knowledge of computers and ability in preparing reports and spreadsheets.
