About The Position

This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As a part of a small, cross-functional team responsible for Lunar network, IT, and communications infrastructure, you'll be instrumental in supporting hardware-in-the-loop integration and mission operations for Blue Origin's lunar landers. This is a hands-on position focused on supporting critical IT equipment and ensuring our internal customers receive the prompt and effective technology support necessary for building, launching, and operating lunar landers. Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in a networking, DevOps or similar role.
  • Minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience with network automation or scripting (e.g., Python, Ansible, REST APIs, Netconf/Restconf, or similar).
  • Experience using version control and collaboration tools (e.g., Git, code review platforms) to manage network configuration changes as code
  • Strong understanding of network protocols, configurations, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Proficiency with network hardware such as routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Experience with network monitoring, analysis tools, and cloud networking environments.
  • Experience with infrastructure provisioning and management tools like Terraform, Ansible, or Puppet.
  • Strong customer service, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and install computer and rack-mounted equipment; comfortable with occasional ladder work.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking or a related field.
  • Exposure to common enterprise, collaboration and project management tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud and virtualization concepts.
  • Knowledge of security basics: Encryption, patching, least privilege
  • Certifications such as CCNA, JNCIA, or similar are highly desirable.
  • Experience in aerospace and/or operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Configure, deploy, and maintain IT hardware and mission support systems, including workstations, servers, networking equipment, video and voice communication infrastructure.
  • Provide operational support for all mission systems command/control in critical test and operations environment, including troubleshooting end-user issues in highly visible, time sensitive situations.
  • Collaborate with IT and engineering teams to ensure network stability and security across multiple sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, facilitating smooth operational processes.
  • Monitor network performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions.
  • Support network upgrade and expansion projects, ensuring minimal disruption.
  • Document network configurations, processes, and procedures for internal reference.
  • Adaptively build highly robust, fault tolerant on-prem infrastructure to support unique customer requirements for data systems control and monitoring.
  • Design, build, and maintain scalable, resilient infrastructure using tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS or other cloud platforms.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or equivalent.
  • Monitor system performance and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production system issues, ensuring minimal downtime and impact.
  • Work to improve system security in compliance with best practices and industry standards.
  • Adapt quickly to new work scope and provide secondary support to unique one-off systems such as weather monitoring, fiber optics distribution, RF distribution/control towers, PKI, and datacenter facilities management.
