About The Position

Network Engineer II is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, security, and optimization of the organization’s network infrastructure. This role provides technical leadership, ensures high availability and performance of network services, and partners with cybersecurity, systems, and application teams to support business and mission-critical operations.

Requirements

  • BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 6+ years of experience supporting enterprise network environments
  • Strong hands-on experience with routing and switching (e.g., BGP, VLANs)
  • Experience with firewall platforms and network security technologies
  • Proficiency with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools
  • Hardware: Routers, Switches (Cisco, Juniper), Load Balancers, Access Points
  • Protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, BGP, and OSPF
  • Cloud/Virtual: SD-WAN, AWS/Azure networking, and VLAN configuration
  • Operating Systems: Windows Server, Linux (RHEL/Ubuntu), and Cisco IOS
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and lead complex initiatives
  • Focus on reliability, security, and continuous improvement

Nice To Haves

  • Industry certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, Network + or equivalent
  • Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience in regulated or high-availability environments
  • Automation or scripting experience

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise network architectures, including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and cloud-connected environments
  • Lead network modernization initiatives and lifecycle management (refresh, upgrades, migrations)
  • Evaluate new networking technologies and recommend improvements aligned with organizational goals
  • Using tools to watch for bottlenecks or hardware failures before the rest of the office notices the "internet is slow."
  • Configuring firewalls, managing VPNs, and ensuring the network is shielded from external threats.
  • Creating and testing backup plans to ensure resiliency.
  • Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of network services
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues across routing, switching, firewalls, and wireless systems
  • Develop and maintain network monitoring, alerting, and performance baselines
  • Participate in on-call rotation and provide escalation-level support
  • Implement and maintain network security controls, including firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, and secure remote access
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to support vulnerability management, patching, and incident response
  • Ensure network configurations comply with organizational policies and regulatory requirements
  • Create and maintain network diagrams, configurations, standards, and operating procedures
  • Establish and enforce best practices for network configuration and change management
  • Serve as a technical mentor to IT staff
  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional IT projects
  • Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders
