About The Position

Join our team at Collins Aerospace Onsite in Fairfield, CA, where we're seeking a Machinist IV. At our facility, we specialize in the manufacturing and testing of explosive, propellant, and cartridge-actuated devices. From intricate components to critical systems like canopy removal mechanisms, our work directly impacts the safety and effectiveness of our products. Every day, we recognize the responsibility we carry—for our reputation and the lives of those who rely on our technology. The schedule for this role is 1st shift Monday-Friday 5:30am-2:00pm.

Requirements

  • Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience using precision measuring instruments (Micrometers, Calipers, 6” Scales, etc..)
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, sketches, job specifications, job orders, planning documents, and equipment manuals.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) access.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of manual machine shop experience
  • Previous experience with Haas CNC machines and troubleshooting experience
  • Previous experience working in a low volume, high value part environment
  • Previous experience fabricating various parts, fixtures, and jigs using machining equipment: lathe, mill, grinding etc.
  • Material handling experience- cranes, rigging, and lifts.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and run conventional machines as well as CNC Machines to produce parts with exacting requirements.
  • Select and setup cutting tools, as needed gage tool lengths.
  • Detect machining abnormalities and/or malfunctions based on tooling wear and damage.
  • Review machining programs and data package for completeness as required.
  • Perform quality inspection of parts using standard measuring instruments.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
  • Support Continuous Improvement efforts and maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.
