The Steve Troxler Agricultural Sciences Center (ASC) houses the regulatory laboratories for the Department of Agriculture. The labs consist of the Food & Drug Protection Division Chemistry, Microbiology, and Pesticide Residue labs; the Veterinary Division Animal Disease Diagnostic lab; the Standards Division Weights and Measures lab, and the Standards Division Fuel Quality testing lab. These laboratories form the scientific basis for all regulatory work performed by the Department ensuring consumer protection for human and animal food, commerce, and animal health. The Facility Maintenance section is responsible for all buildings and maintenance for the state-of-the art ASC facility and three veterinary laboratories throughout the state. The Maintenance Construction Technician III is hands-on with maintenance and repairs of the general physical building and mechanical/electrical/plumbing equipment and may occasionally assist with the surrounding grounds. Responsibilities include monitoring and working on all operating systems such as chillers, boilers, HVAC, and incinerators, as well as diagnosing and repairing plumbing and electrical issues.
