About The Position

Facilities management Housing is seeking a qualified TEMPORARY Maintenance Mechanic for the summer of 2026. Duties associated with this position include, but are not limited to: • Conducting inspections, repairs, replacements, and adjustments to interior and exterior surfaces of Residence Halls, Dining Service locations and off campus housing • Repairing furniture, window treatments and screens • Replacing toilet seats, toilet paper dispensers, paper towel holders, toilet stall partitions • Door and door hardware repairs • Replacing and installing towel racks, shower curtains, coat hooks, floor tile, cove base, carpeting, ceiling tiles • Minor concrete patching, plastering, and painting. • Minor carpentry work such as hanging shelves, pictures, mirrors, light cover replacements, handrails, adjusting and replacing of door closers and repairs to door locks including Persona locks. • Moving, repairing, and replacing appliances • Drive University vehicles as needed. • Other duties as assigned by the Managers and Lead Mechanic.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED to include shop classes dealing with carpentry or other building trades or successful completion of two years technical school or a minimum of three years of job experience directly related to the Building Maintenance Mechanic functions.
  • Knowledge and skills needed to maintain building components such as furniture, fixtures, and floor systems, ceiling tiles, doors, and windows.
  • Demonstrated ability to repair locks and lock hardware.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the safe and effective use of hand and power tools used in the carpentry trade.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to lift up to 85 pounds on a regular basis.
  • The incumbent must have the ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • A valid Pennsylvania Driver's License is required.
