About The Position

Overview Performs basic repair, adjustment and minor construction work in the basic trades to ensure that facilities are properly maintained. Assists more skilled staff in the completion of larger and more complex assignments. Duties may fall into a variety of trades, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical. Performs basic repair, adjustment, maintenance and installation in a multitude of disciplines that may include but are not limited to HVAC, Pneumatics, Explosion Suppression, Fire Control, Cooling Towers, Chillers, Overhead Doors, and general tasks not otherwise assigned (furniture moves, rack repair, safety railings and barriers installation and removal, etc.). Assists with safety and regulatory requirements within the facility to include but not limited to Hazardous Waste movement and storage, RO Water monitoring, Sprinkler System maintenance and monitoring. Level 1 Facility Technicians should have experience in up to 3 of the following core skill areas. Maintenance Fundamentals Mechanical Concepts Electrical Power Electrical Controls Pneumatics Responsibilities Assists with installation, relocation, troubleshooting, and repair of assigned equipment. Assists with the day-to-day maintenance and upkeep of all facility related items Perform preventative, reactive and emergency maintenance, and repair on assigned tasks Complete all associated paperwork (electronically or otherwise) in a timely manner for assigned tasks. Works alone or with other technicians and/or trades to accomplish assigned tasks. Respond quickly to emergency requests by site management when mechanical issues with equipment have been identified. Assists in dismantling, repairing, and reassembling complex equipment Compliance with company policies, SOP’s, cGMPs and all other government regulations related to this position. Coordinate with appropriate personnel to obtain required materials needed to perform assigned tasks. Follow all safety procedures when opening, repairing and installing process or plant equipment. (LOTO, Hot Work Permits, Confined Space Permits, etc.). Interpret drawings of equipment to properly adjust, maintain or repair machinery. Operates various types of equipment (fork truck, electric pallet jacks, man lift, etc.) Required to work on ladders, scaffolds, and aerial equipment. Responsible for serviceability and accountability of assigned tools. Responsible for cleaning work areas in the shop or at project locations. Maintain 5S standards throughout the plant. Required to participate in after-hours/weekend on-call rotation. Compensation provided. Must have the ability to respond to after-hours and weekend callbacks via phone communication within 15 minutes and onsite availability within 1.5 hours (notification to clock in) Coordinate with facility and/or production management to ensure timely updates during emergency response. Responsible to stay on site until issue is resolved or released by upline management. Continuous engagement: work continues without interruption until the emergency, or on-call emergency repair is fully completed, and equipment is restored to operational condition Complete all necessary course work/training as assigned by department management. Training includes but is not limited to formal classroom training, computer-based training and on the job training. Other assigned duties as directed by the Facility Maintenance Manager, Supervisor or Lead Qualifications Education/Experience High School Diploma/GED 2 years of facility or production maintenance experience within a manufacturing, industrial or commercial environment. Preferred: 2-year technical degree Industrial Maintenance or related field or comparable military maintenance experience. Qualifications Must be mechanically inclined and willing to perform mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic tasks. Must be able to understand and interpret mechanical data from blueprints, schematics, wiring and plumbing diagrams and be familiar with other mechanical trades data found on these documents. Knowledge and understanding of LOTO and OSHA safety requirements as related to industrial operations. Working knowledge of motor/drive assembly mechanical functions and systems (e.g., change oil, gears, hydraulic and pneumatic systems). Competent in the use of hand and power tools and precision measuring instruments (e.g., drills, drivers, calipers, micrometers, multi-meters, etc.) Intermediate welding skills are a plus. Basic computer skills utilizing MS Office and Outlook Ability to work with others and promote a team atmosphere. Work Environment / Physical Demands (essential to perform the job duties) The employee is regularly required to use hands, speak and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit for long periods, bend, reach with arms, and stoop at knees. Work is typically performed in a moderately noisy business area. Requirements
