About The Position

The Position involves maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and organization. The role includes sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing surfaces, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, and restocking supplies. Cleaning workers ensure that areas are safe, sanitary and presentable according to Church standards and health regulations. The position requires attention to detail, time management skills and the ability to use cleaning equipment and chemicals safely. Cleaners may work independently or as part of a team and are responsible for following schedules, reporting maintenance issues, and providing a high standard of service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2 years’ experience in building and equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of staff.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb or balance; stoop; kneel; and crouch/ crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move 25-50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions wet and/or hot, humid; high places; and work with various chemicals.

Responsibilities

  • Maintenance: Provide prompt response to requests and issues
  • Performs basic carpentry, drywall, painting, plumbing and electrical
  • Completes promptly Work Order Forms submitted to maintenance personnel
  • Performs repairs or maintenance on incoming work orders to ensure that it is properly and promptly completed.
  • Responsible for implementing a preventive schedule for key systems and seasonal tasks to protect parish investments.
  • Responsible for safe and efficient use of heavy and light equipment, machinery and hand tools including mowers, trimming equipment, pressure washers, etc.
  • Responsible for safely using chemicals
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards
  • Respond to facility alarms, alerts and system failures and reports to supervisor.
  • Helps with development and implementation of procedures to address problems that arise within the facilities, consistent with parish and Diocese guidelines
  • Responsible for setting up and organization of campus hall
  • Assists in the quarterly parish clean up volunteer opportunities
  • Adhering to safety training and protocols on a daily basis and taking precautionary measure to ensure the safety and well-being of self, and others.
  • Responsible for protecting the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization to include but not limited to client names and information, services rendered to clients, donors names and gifts, internal and external investigations or results of any investigations, and financial information.
  • Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy is mandatory.

  • Any other duties assigned by priest or parochial vicar.
