About The Position

This role is a leadership position responsible for managing and optimizing the Accounts Receivable function within the revenue cycle. The Manager, Accounts Receivable will oversee a team of specialists, driving process improvements, reducing denials, and ensuring timely and accurate collections. This position requires strong collaboration with internal departments, including coding, billing, and finance, as well as external partners such as insurance payers. The role combines operational oversight with strategic planning, ensuring the team meets financial and performance goals. The ideal candidate is a proactive, analytical leader who can coach and develop staff while streamlining processes in a fast-paced, regulated healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in finance, accounting, healthcare administration, or related field
  • 3+ years of management experience in healthcare accounts receivable, revenue cycle, or professional billing
  • Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and third-party payer processes, coding, and billing regulations
  • Experience with HIS systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar) and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills for resolving payment and denial issues
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to guide staff and collaborate with internal and external partners
  • Ability to adapt to changing procedures, technology, and organizational growth

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor the Accounts Receivable team to ensure high performance and adherence to best practices
  • Oversee daily AR operations, including monitoring unpaid claims, denials, and payment trends
  • Collaborate with coding, billing, and ancillary departments to identify and resolve recurring issues
  • Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction
  • Develop short- and long-term plans to optimize revenue and manage department performance
  • Manage department budget, including overtime, and prepare monthly reports for leadership
  • Communicate updates, directives, and performance metrics effectively to peers and team members
  • Ensure compliance with payer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal policies
