Job Summary: The Manager of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) oversees and advances EHS programs for multiple manufacturing operations and administrative offices located in Groveland, MA. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; manages all aspects of environmental, health, and safety programs; and drives continuous improvement in risk reduction, incident prevention, environmental performance, and safety culture. The Manager leads a team of EHS professionals, partners closely with manufacturing and service operations, and implements the Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001 requirements. Job Model: On-Site On-Site positions will require employees to work on-site for each of their scheduled shifts.

Requirements

  • Must have strong substantive knowledge of regulations and guidance promulgated by Federal and State OSHA and EPA. Familiarity with workers’ compensation requirements preferred.
  • Strong technical ability to work, collaborate and negotiate with government officials, consultants, and other third-party stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand machining, coatings, assembly, testing, chemical use, energy controls (LOTO), and facility infrastructure to assess EHS risks and required controls.
  • Must be self-directed, and able to work productively on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Competence in JHAs, safety risk scoring, environmental impact reviews, compliance audits, and hazard recognition.
  • Strong experience building, maintaining, or improving an Environmental Management System (EMS), including internal audits and corrective actions.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong tactical abilities with demonstrated results.
  • Requires up to 5% travel.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 6 – 8 years’ experience managing EHS for multiple operations. Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from customers, co- workers and managers.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Employees assigned to certain tasks within this job may be required to participate in our Medical Surveillance Program. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, talk or hear, and reach with hands and arms. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Ability to work and walk about in a manufacturing shop floor environment, wear required protective clothing, i.e., steel toe shoes and safety glasses. Close vision required and the ability to identify and distinguish color. Must be able to sit and work on a computer for extended periods of time. Moderate noise exists in the daily work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for company compliance with federal, state, and local, safety and environmental regulations.
  • Develop, deploy and execute EHS strategy to mitigate risk to people, property & community.
  • Responsible for proactive approach, for policies, procedures and standards to be applied across multiple factories and administrative areas.
  • Responsible for all aspects of the environmental, health and safety program; including but not limited to training, incident investigations, managing safety teams, emergency planning, auditing/inspections, communicating results, metrics and action plans for management.
  • Build, support and maintain an Environmental Management System (EMS) in alignment with ISO 14001 Standard.
  • Lead incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and corrective action planning; ensure communication of results and learning across the organization.
  • Assess operational or facility changes to determine whether new or modified environmental permits, regulatory notifications, or updated compliance measures are required.
  • Build, track, and maintain effective EHS metrics, measures and action plans to meet company objectives. Targets will be based on global, regional and site level objectives.
  • Manage raw material safety data sheet (SDS) in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and to support business needs.
  • Conduct and maintain safety risk assessments and environmental impact reviews as needed to support facility and process changes, and improvements.
  • Perform management system and compliance-based audits to ensure compliance with regulatory and company other requirements.
  • Review and analyze environmental and safety documentation issued by agencies to determine impact on company operations and propose strategies to maintain compliance.
  • Develop, conduct and/or coordinate safety and environmental training programs, to include general proactive awareness training, regulatory required training, environmental management system and program specific training as needed.
  • Utilize company Learners Management System (LMS) to document and automate trainings.
  • Responsible for managing a team, including disciplinary action and performance reviews.
