About The Position

The Manager-in-Training (MIT) – Reservations, Catering & Sales is an 18-month rotational leadership development program designed to provide immersive, hands-on experience within revenue-driven departments. The program focuses on developing future leaders with a strong understanding of luxury service standards, Forbes Travel Guide expectations, sales strategy, and client relationship management. Rotations will include Reservations, Catering & Conference Services, and Group Sales, providing exposure to forecasting, contracting, event planning, revenue strategy, and guest experience execution. The MIT will rotate through applicable properties within the company to gain a comprehensive understanding of luxury hospitality operations. Strong leadership presence, professionalism, client engagement, and visibility on the floor are critical to success in this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or appropriate work experience required. College graduate preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend the English language at a level sufficient to communicate effectively with staff.
  • Two years hotel experience mandatory.
  • Working knowledge of hospitality.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Must be able to walk the property, attend site inspections, support on-property events, and maintain a visible leadership presence.
  • Must be a very hands-on leader and manager, actively engaged with clients, guests, and team members.
  • Valid drivers license required.

Responsibilities

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, to include weekends and holidays, if required.
  • Arrive to work on time, consistently.
  • Upon entering the property, arrive in proper attire, crisp, clean and in good repair.
  • Hair must be clean and cut in a becoming style; management has final approval.
  • Attend all required training, safety courses; attend office and departmental meetings. Conduct meetings as needed.
  • Report any safety hazards, follow up that hazard has been corrected, and assist with providing a safe work environment.
  • Maximizing the potential profit of the front office functions.
  • Prepare, run, and distribute daily and weekly reports related to sales activity, reservations, catering events, and business forecasts, which may include: Booking and lead activity, event activities reports, arrival and departure summaries, sales and catering pace reports.
  • Assist with monitoring and maintaining accurate information within sales, catering, and reservations systems.
  • Support Sales and Catering Managers by assisting with the preparation of sales proposals, contracts, and event documentation.
  • Learn the full sales process by assisting with lead management, prospecting initiatives, proposal preparation, and contract support, while gaining exposure to revenue strategies and client relationship management.
  • Complete a sales process training session, and participate in MCA JIT Training calls to practice refining skills.
  • Participate in prospecting sessions to uncover opportunities for the Sales Team, and further develop sales skills.
  • Attend local hospitality industry events with a member of the Sales or Catering Team to practice networking skills.
  • Monitor incoming sales and catering leads to ensure they are properly logged and assigned.
  • Assist with the creation and review of event orders for assigned events to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Attend site visits, planning meetings, and pre-event meetings as assigned to gain exposure to the event planning process.
  • Provide on-site event support as assigned, including checking on events during execution and assisting managers as needed.
  • Interfacing of department and self with other departments of hotel to insure a harmonious working relationship.
  • Execute the general responsibilities common to all Club management personnel in minimizing the costs of unit operations and in safeguarding the property and the reputation of the Club.
  • Oversee daily operations of Reservations team including monitoring performance, inventory, room block management and ensure system proficiency
  • Apply revenue management principles, manage inventory, optimize pricing to meet budget goals
  • Guide, train and motivate Reservations team, manage daily tasks and performance
  • Manage special requests, ensure accurate data entry while upholding luxury standards
  • Work closely with Sales, Group Reservations, Marketing and Front Office among other departments
