This position leads the development and distribution of member communications through many styles and media, with a focus on digital media. Responsible for research, audience analysis and compliance with regulatory and health literacy requirements for material. Executes approved strategies and tactics to improve health plan member communications, customer retention, and customer loyalty on time and within budget. Maintains working knowledge of competitors, products, communication strategies/technologies and market position. This work involves planning, developing, producing and implementing communication plans to meet strategic goals and objectives to improve the member experience. Develops and monitors the effectiveness of activities against the plan objectives. This position, in collaboration with Mail Center leadership, is responsible for the quality of member print and mail requests, including formatting, recipient address accuracy as required by compliance and state and government regulations. This position requires a strategic thinker who is highly accountable and can manage multiple, high-profile, compliant driven projects at one time. Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Journalism, Communications, or Business with a Marketing emphasis.
  • Three to five years of experience in communications.
  • Adept with computer software and tools.
  • Expert writing, editing and proofreading and organizational skills.
  • Requires the ability to function under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Must be able to work with diverse groups of internal customers.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for coordinating activities for Quality Communications projects and process management.
  • Coaches and mentors Quality Communications staff, users and stakeholders through individual education sessions as well as departmental staff meetings and ensures adherence to established policies and procedures to produce and review copy that is appropriate for the audience and meets standards for required reading levels as well as regulatory requirements as it relates to health literacy standards. Can adapt and refresh information to be presented to different audiences.
  • Responsible for tracking and updating Quality Communications performance reports to ensure performance goals are met and maintained.
  • Manages and implements all audit activities to include preparation of materials for regulatory review, ensuring communications and mailings meet all regulatory and compliance requirements.
  • Partners with stakeholders to create, manage, and execute communication plans using strategic communication vehicles.
  • Manages the continuous improvement of member communications through benchmarking, data driven analysis, research and adoption of best practices inside and outside of healthcare, and by monitoring the effectiveness of communication activities against plan objectives.
  • Supports mail vendor management for communication, print, and mail vendors including support with departmental budget development and maintenance and monthly accounting for associated cost centers and accounts including forecasting, tracking and reporting.
  • Performs hiring, coaching, and annual performance reviews of direct reports. Motivates and develops staff, supporting their professional growth to maximize their contributions.
  • Develops annual departmental FTE and operating budgets.
  • Performs other functions as required.
