About The Position

Optimum is seeking a Manager of Network Engineering to lead the design for all FTTH, Hybrid Fiber-Coax (HFC) network survey and design plant additions, upgrades and extensions within the stated Service Level Agreement (SLA). This role ensures reliable, high-performance connectivity for residents and property managers through survey, design, and cost estimating towards the release of units to the Optimum Sales organization for required approvals prior to packaging and forwarding of completed residential, commercial, and municipal units to construction. The Manager will oversee engineering activities related to network architecture, implementation, and ongoing support for MDU environments, working closely with internal teams and external partners to deliver best-in-class services.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years of experience in network engineering and design, with at least 5 years in Design and/or Construction, focused on managing HFC and coaxial networks.
  • Sound understanding of design and engineering standards for both coaxial and fiber plant. Versed in multiple FTTH, HFC/Fiber and Wi-Fi parameters and design architectures.
  • Experience managing or supervising technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Strong background in Excel is required and must be able to perform complex data analysis, create dynamic reports, automate tasks, and handle large datasets efficiently.
  • Ability to interpret site plans and perform RF planning for multi-unit environments.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, justify, and manage to the approved budget for capital and operational spending, identify and document any variance to final cost and budget.
  • Ensure network performance, security, and reliability through proactive monitoring and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain documentation for network designs, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Identify and facilitate the training and development of all Optimum Design employees and contractor personnel as it pertains to new technology, safety, career progression and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in vendor evaluations and product selection for hardware and management platforms.
  • Provide escalation support for complex issues and ensure timely resolution.
  • Drive continuous improvement in deployment processes and customer experience.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with staff, other departments and customers, utility and government agencies, contractors and engineering companies to ensure the highest level of service.
  • Network Uptime: Maintain service availability at or above 99.9%.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve escalated network issues within SLA (e.g., 24–48 hours).
  • Cost Efficiency: Deliver projects within budget while optimizing resource utilization.
