About The Position

The St. Louis Public Library is seeking a full-time Manager of Adult Programming and Outreach to develop and manage meaningful programming experiences at Library locations across the City of St. Louis. The Library values the array of talents and perspectives that a diverse workforce brings and how this positively impacts our services and customer base. Our ideal candidate has a track record of successful programming, strong organizational skills, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for serving the St. Louis community. Requirements

  • Friendly, outgoing, and able to build relationships at all levels.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.
  • Comfortable creating programs that align with broader strategic priorities.
  • Committed to serving St. Louis Public Library’s diverse customer base and developing your own cultural awareness.
  • Able to see the big picture and promote system-wide consistency and service excellence.
  • Three years of related experience planning events and classes for libraries, community centers, or similar organizations, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or a combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Strong skills in customer service, organization, and communication.
  • Skills with virtual meeting platforms (Zoom, Google Meet) and an understanding of how technology can be incorporated into learning opportunities.
  • A valid driver’s license and reliable motor vehicle to travel to outreach events and other locations in the Library system.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the strategic direction for all adult programming and outreach.
  • Work with internal and external partners to offer and evaluate performances and programs in the Library as part of the Library’s efforts to be an inclusive community space for learning and engagement.
  • Develop resources on best practices for program analysis, including data collection and performance metrics, and train staff on these.
  • Accurately handle administrative details of programs and partnerships, including schedules, room setups, contracts, and budgets.
  • Coordinate staff program planning processes, including working with the Marketing department to develop promotional materials.
  • Mentor and guide staff who offer programs across the system to reach new heights.
